Cate Blanchett was born on May 14, 1969 in Melbourne, Australia. When her 40-year-old father died of a sudden heart attack, she took the option of traveling for a year to find his way.
This one came in the strangest way. She was staying in a cheap hotel in Cairo. There another guest offered to participate as an extra in a movie that was going to be filmed those days. She did not doubt it. After this first step in the world of celluloid, Cate Blanchett decided to prepare in the exciting art of interpreting. Cate graduated from Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art in 1992 and, in a little over a year, had won both critical and popular acclaim. More about Cate Blanchett Biography...
